Medication Management

Diagnosis Clinic

Precision Pain Care understands chronic pain can affect every aspect of a patient’s life. Our goal is to improve a patient’s comfort and quality of life, and to do so with compassion and precision. Our approaches to comprehensive pain management also consider the side effects of living with pain, and we believe stress management techniques and physical therapy can be important aspects of a treatment program.

Precision Pain Care is not a pharmacy and we do not accept patients solely to write prescriptions. We seek to find the underlying cause of pain and then treat it at the source. For patients who do not respond to interventional therapy or other minimally invasive procedures, we may suggest long-term pain medication management.

The State of Ohio, through Ohio House Bill 93, and the Ohio State Medical Board, have established clear procedures and regulations for the administration and reporting of prescription pain medications. Please review these documents before requesting an appointment or referring a patient to Precision Pain Care.

Standards and Procedures for the Operation of a Pain Management Clinic

Ohio Automated Rx Reporting System (OARRS)

For some patients, we may recommend pain medications as part of an appropriate course of treatment. However, medication alone will not treat the source of the pain.

If opiate-based pain medications are appropriate, on request from the referring physician, we will temporarily manage these medications in order to optimize the medication regimen before transferring this responsibility to the patient’s referring or primary care physician.

Patients recommended for opiate-based pain medication must sign a contract requiring them to receive the medication from one source and to have prescriptions filled at only one pharmacy. Our approach not only helps minimize potential for abuse, but also better protects patients and their physicians. We will provide these contracts to referring physicians once the patient is discharged back to their care.
